Super 21

Super 21 (a.k.a. Super Fun 21 or Super 21 Blackjack) is an incredibly fun way to play online blackjack. The rules of the game are modified from traditional blackjack to allow the player more flexibility in their hand development choices, essentially giving the player a higher chance of winning the game. Of course, to counter this and give the house an edge, blackjack only pays 1 to 1.

Super 21 games are featured in many live and online casinos. If you’re looking to play Super 21 online blackjack, try the Bodog Casino or Cherry Red Casino. Both of these casinos use Real Time Gaming software which is the best in the industry.

How to Play Super Fun 21

Although the extended player options are more versatile, the game is basically played in the same manner as a standard game of blackjack. After betting, the player and dealer are each dealt two cards – player’s cards are face down, dealer’s cards are one face up and one face down.

With the Surrender rule in effect, the player will check his cards first and choose whether to play on. If the player Surrenders, half of the bet is lost and the other returned – the hand is over. If he plays on, the dealer will check his cards for blackjack. If the dealer has blackjack (and the player does not), the hand is over; the player has lost. Otherwise, the game continues. The player may:

  • Stand (take no more cards)
  • Hit (take another card)
  • Double (take a final card; doubling is allowed on any number of cards and any total value – player may use Double Down Rescue to surrender his after doubling, sacrificing the doubled bet and keeping the original bet, but ending the hand)
  • Split (split two identical cards into two hands; player may split and re-split to his heart’s content, even hitting and/or doubling split aces.)
  • Late Surrender (player forfeits half of the bet, keeping the other half and ending the hand)

Super 21 Blackjack Payouts

Super 21 Blackjack offers numerous ways to win. So long as the player’s hand is higher than the dealer’s hand without exceeding 21, the player wins even money. Other winning Super 21 blackjack hands and payouts are:

Blackjack (Pays 1 to 1): A natural Blackjack pays 1 to 1 in Super Fun 21, therefore is not much different from a 3+ card total of 21 except that blackjack beats a dealer’s standard 21.

Super Fun 21 Extended Payouts: These hands instantly win so long as the player has not busted or doubled down.

6+ Cards (Pays 1 to 1): Any 6+ card total that doesn’t bust and hasn’t been doubled.

5+ Card 21 (Pays to 1): Any 5+ card total of 21 that hasn’t been doubled.

Double-Diamond Blackjack (Pays 2 to 1): Any natural Blackjack in which both cards are diamonds (i.e. Ad+Qd)
